Some thoughts  about April 13th

By  Patrick Neuman, Board Member and Past President

The Music Foundation of S.W. Florida held it’s 25th annual high school summer music scholarship competition on April 13 at Florida Southwesten College in Fort  Myers. 13 high school auditioned for our committee of judges. These scholarships are made possible by the generous donations made by several individuals in the community. This year we had $5,000.00 to award to students to attend a high school summer music camp of their choice. The students selected to receive awards are listed above.

All students who auditioned were very well prepared, performed admirably and were exemplary young people. Every participant was worthy of receiving a scholarship however our funds were insufficient to award a scholarship to all applicants. It’s been inspiring and very gratifying to watch the tremendous personal and musical growth that our scholarship winners exhibit as a result of the support and opportunities we are able to provide. Many of our previous scholarship winners go on to successfully compete in and win very high level music awards and competitions.

Having additional funds would have made it possible for us to support all of the students in their efforts to advance their musical and personal development. If you would like to help us to be able to support the efforts and dreams of all the deserving students who audition please make a contribution to our high school scholarship fund.

The Music Foundation’s programs spark interest, encourage participation and nurture the positive growth and development of  young people in and through music and the arts. Our high quality programs and our focus on meeting individual needs and interests provide students with positive, successful, inspiring experiences that promote their musical and personal growth and development.
